Family Food Culture

Birthdays, Anniversaries, Reunion, Christmas, New Year, etc. There are common foods that being served during that said occasions. Like, the favourite food of our family is the Roasted Turkey. I myself don’t know why roasted turkey is food that is served every time there is an occasion. I think it’s because my grandmother has a farm of turkey. I also have en uncle who is making a good in roasting. Aside from roasted turkey, Roasted Spare Ribs, Asado, and either Patotin or Pabotin are being cook in some occasion.

ROASTED SPARE RIBS
PABOTIN

As I interviewed our “family chef”, his secret in making it must be more in garlic or spices. In Asado, it is best if there is dried oregano. If you don’t know what are Patotin and Pabotin, I will describe it to you how it cook and appearance of it. Patotin and Pabotin have the same process of cooking but they differ in the meat Patotin uses duck’s meat and Pabotin uses turkey’s meat. If you know the recipe of Patatin, Patotin and Pabotin is cook as Patatin.

DINIKDIK
PINAPISIK
Our family has our own family recipe. We call it, “Dinikdik” and the other one is “Pinapisik”. Dinikdik has a coconut milk “gata”, diced cassava leaves, with chopped pork. Pinapisik has the Tilapia Fish wrap in Banana Leaf.

LUNCH TIME
                             (REUNION DAY)
As I remember, while we are preparing the foods, it just like we was in a camp. My dad and my brother are the one who were catching the turkey at my grandma’s farm. I was assigned to clean the fish. As I remember, Tilapia was totally fresh. It’s still swimming in pail. As I was cleaning the fish, its tail is moving. And when we are all done, Wow! Buon Appiteto!!! Delicious!!!
